2011:國(guó)際化學(xué)年

2006年4月召開的IUPAC(國(guó)際理論與應(yīng)用化學(xué)聯(lián)合會(huì))執(zhí)行會(huì)議期間，首次討論了國(guó)際化學(xué)年的想法。這次會(huì)議之后，國(guó)際理論與應(yīng)用化學(xué)聯(lián)合會(huì)的一個(gè)工作組制定了一項(xiàng)計(jì)劃，以確保聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織接受國(guó)際化學(xué)年的建議。2008年4月，教科文組織執(zhí)行局批準(zhǔn)了由聯(lián)合國(guó)宣布2011年為國(guó)際化學(xué)年（IYC）的建議，該項(xiàng)目（IUPAC項(xiàng)目，編號(hào)2007-011-1-050）得以成功完成。

國(guó)際法制計(jì)量組織（OIML）和國(guó)際計(jì)量局（BIPM）都高度關(guān)注并通過國(guó)際計(jì)量委員會(huì)(CIPM)、國(guó)際物質(zhì)量咨詢委員會(huì)(CCQM)，或者國(guó)際計(jì)量局的技術(shù)委員會(huì)參與了化學(xué)測(cè)量的改善。正是出于這個(gè)原因，這兩個(gè)國(guó)際計(jì)量組織已經(jīng)決定加入2011國(guó)際化學(xué)年，并將化學(xué)作為今年世界計(jì)量日的主題。

2011: InternationalYear of Chemistry

The idea for an international year was firstdiscussed in 2006, during the April meeting of the IUPAC Executive Committee.Following that meeting, an IUPAC task group developed a plan to secure thedesignation by UNESCO of an International Year of Chemistry. That project (IUPAC project2007-011-1-050) was successfully completed when in April 2008 the ExecutiveBoard of UNESCO endorsed the proposal for proclamation by the United Nations of2011 as an International Year of Chemistry (IYC).

The International Year of Chemistry 2011 (IYC2011) is a worldwide celebration of the achievements of chemistry and itscontributions to the well-being of humankind. Under the unifying theme "Chemistry -our life, our future", IYC 2011 will offer a range ofinteractive, entertaining, and educational activities for all ages. The Year ofChemistry is intended to reach across the globe, with opportunities for publicparticipation at the local, regional, and national level.

The goals of IYC 2011 are to increase thepublic appreciation of chemistry in meeting world needs, to encourage interestin chemistry among young people, and to generate enthusiasm for the creativefuture of chemistry. The year 2011 will coincide with the 100th anniversary ofthe Nobel Prize awarded to Madame Marie Curie - an opportunity to celebrate thecontributions of women to science. The year will also be the 100th anniversaryof the founding of the International Association of Chemical Societies, providinga chance to highlight the benefits of international scientific collaboration.

Both the OIML and the BIPM are deeply involvedin the improvement of chemical measurements, either through the CIPM CCQM (ComitéConsultatif pour la Quantité de Matière in French, or ConsultativeCommittee for Amount of Substance) or through many of the OIML TechnicalCommittees. For this reason, the two International Metrology Organizations havedecided to join the IYC 2011 and have Chemistry as the theme for this year's WorldMetrology Day.
